The ones which use green gas are the most realistic in terms of power and feel. And these guns can be extremely powerful, powerful enough to really hurt if you get to close.
In fact, they can shoot out the BBs at a rate of 400 fps which can definitely pierce the skin if you’re within 10 yards or so. This will not hurt you, however, if you have the right level of safety equipment, you may feel a little sting, but you won’t get seriously injured.
I would say the risk level is similar to that of paintball. Cover yourself up with protective clothing and whatever you do definitely wear face protection in the form of a paintball style facemask. This isn’t negotiable.
Cheap airsoft guns can be lots of fun when used properly. Safety is the biggest upfront concern but once it’s taken care of enjoy the fun and bonding you can have with fellow friends and family enthusiasts. It really does pay for you to spend a little more in upfront money to ensure that you will be protected from any harm.
Stay safe, have fun, make sure it’s on safety when you’re not using it, and other than that always be locked and loaded.
Again, use your brain, and use the airsoft weapon’s safety before and after the competition. Hitting another player while they are not geared up could cause irreversible damage, especially if you hit them in the face or eye. So watch out, and have a great time.
